Crushmore Records, established in 2007 by musician/writer/producer Tucker Moore, is a Colorado based independent label working to create a more artist friendly approach in the ever-changing music industry of today. Ever changing of course meaning corrupt, greedy and usually misdirected. Crushmore's motto is, "Understand you're fucked from the start. Once you understand that you're on the right road to getting unfucked."
The fledgling label sprung from Moore's ten plus years of musical tinkering and experimenting in rural Georgia and Colorado. The creation of Crushmore Records came to culmination in early 2008 with the release of its first album by artist DJ Rootz; Imaginary Guitar Solos. DJ Rootz, a resident Boulder DJ known for his choice selections, extended mixes, party-rocking abilities and tendency to rock a club, picked up an MPC 4000 and began producing in 2005. Releasing his first album, Muzic iz Bezt the same year, Rootz continued to produce and has played with artist like Lyrics Born, The New Deal, Prefuse 73, The Roots, John Scofield, Steve Kimock, Super Diamond, Little Brother, STS9, Lady Sovereign, members of The String Cheese Incident, Israel Vibrations, Aceyalone, DJ Greyboy, The Greyboy Allstars, The Meters, and many more.
Other artists on Crushmore's roster include: Arkain, a local MC/producer/writer/DJ who's music spans the genres of rap/hip-hop, soul, funk, dub, electronica, dance, and anything else that makes a noise. His unique style and integration of sounds can go from calm to crunk and back again at any moment. When asked where he gets the inspiration for his music he simply replied, "that dog will biteee youuuu."
